Work related to new fiber optic internet infrastructure has recently begun throughout Federal Way, and in The Ridge, and residents may begin noticing construction activity in and around the neighborhood.
You may see construction notices posted on doors, utility markings on streets and sidewalks, and work crews operating in and around the neighborhood. At times, this work may require temporary street closures, detours, or temporary on street parking restrictions.
The City of Federal Way has issued public right-of-way permits for this work. Please note that the area beyond the curb and sidewalk that homeowners commonly maintain as part of their yard is often considered a public right-of-way and may be used for utility improvements, including fiber optic cabling.
The Ridge HOA has not granted any authority to any cable company for their work; however, having obtained a right-of-way from the city means that the HOA has no authority to deny access in those areas to those companies

Residents are strongly encouraged to take clear photos of their yard, landscaping, irrigation, and any areas of their property that could potentially be affected by this work for their records prior to construction beginning.
Contractors are responsible for restoring impacted areas following installation, including filling holes and replacing disturbed grass, bark, or landscaping materials.
If you have concerns regarding construction activity, safety issues, or restoration of impacted areas, residents are encouraged to report concerns through Eyes on Federal Way or contact the City of Federal Way Public Works Department directly.

Thank you for your patience as these infrastructure improvements are completed throughout the community.
