On June 10, the Korean community of Federal Way gathered to celebrate a milestone thirteen years in the making: the grand opening of Hanwoori Garden, named for the Korean word “Hanwoori,” meaning “We are one.” The new garden features a beautifully crafted Palgakjeong (traditional Korean pavilion) and a traditional Korean gate.
Hanwoori Garden is the result of a unique partnership between the City of Federal Way and its sister city, Donghae, South Korea. Nine skilled technicians traveled from Donghae to build these cultural landmarks, blending centuries-old Korean craftsmanship with modern U.S. building standards.

Located at 550 SW Campus Drive near Panther Lake Trail and the King County Weyerhaeuser Aquatic Center, Hanwoori Garden offers a space where residents and visitors can gather, reflect, and celebrate the rich heritage of Korean culture in our community.
